About: The 2021 vintage marks 19 years of making Petite Sirah at Fleur de California, and our 13th year working with fruit from the Suisun Valley appellation. This region lies just east of the southern Napa Valley, with a very similar climate. We aim for a smother, more fruit-driven style of this varietal, and this is achieved through cool-temperature fermentation, shorter time on the skins, and longer barrel aging.
Tasting Notes: Dark & rich blueberry and blackberry fruit with hints of oak and black pepper.
Winemaking: This wine was aged in about 20% new French oak for a total of 20 months. This extended aging in French oak barrels adds complexity while softening tannins in the wine.
